Gummy Bear Facts

• Gummy bears were first invented in 1922 by German candy creator, Hans Riegel. They were originally called “Dancing Bears”. Today you know them as Haribo. 
   

• All Green Gummy Bears are actually strawberry flavored (unless labeled on the bag otherwise.) We associate color with taste so we assume it is apple or lime when it’s not. White or clear gummy bears are also pineapple-flavored.
   

• Gummy bears are literally sold all over the world, however, Haribo opened its first company in Baltimore, MD in 1982. 
   

• Gummy bears even had their own cartoon in the 1980s called The Adventures of the Gummi Bears. It premiered on NBC in 1985 and was Disney’s first major animated TV series.
   

• You can soak them in vodka to have a fun adult party treat.

• Green and orange gummy bears are the most popular.
